In the early 1990s, a God-idea was birthed in the hearts of the leadership of Erie First Assembly of God to plant a church in the heart of the city of Erie. A furniture store on the corner of 12th Strret and Parade St. was purchased and renovated into a church. James Collins built up a team and Family Worship Center became a reality when the first service was held on February 14, 1993. That was twenty-five years ago.  A lot has changed over the years, but the vision to reach our city is still the mission that keeps us serving God today! 

 

In honor of 25 years as a church, Family Worship Center is hosting a grand celebration February 16-18.

 

On Friday, February 16, we are hosting a 25th Anniversary Kick-Off at 6:00pm at Family Worship Center. Since music has always been a huge part of what FWC does, it is fitting that this will have lots of music, and a brief message from the current pastor, Jamie Smith.

 

On Saturday, February 17, we will make our way over to the Bel-Aire/Clarion Hotel on 8th Street for the 25th Anniversary Banquet. This is a semi-formal, ticketed event. The doors open at 4:30pm and will feature the ministry of Rev. David Bemis (former pastor of 16 years). Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for children (10 and under). Tickets can be purchased by mailing in the attached order form, purchasing tickets at one of our services, or you can reserve tickets by calling the church office. The deadline for ticket orders is Wednesday, February 7th.

 

On Sunday morning, we will be having a powerful 25th Anniversary Service, featuring the founding pastor, Bishop James Collins. We are believing that God’s power is going to be evident, and it will usher us into the next 25 years of ministry as a church. After the service, there will be an open house for people who would like to see the changes that have happened to the building, and light refreshments will be served upstairs.
